El día de los niños/El día de los libros

Children's Day/Book Day, also known as El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Día), is a celebration of children, families, and reading held annually on April 30. The celebration emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds. So celebrate it by visiting your local library and checkout some great books.

April is National Poetry Month

Celebrate National Poetry Month!!! Did you know that there was a Poet Laureate for children? Mary Ann Hoberman has been named the second Children’s Poet Laureate by the Poetry Foundation. She succeeds Jack Prelutsky who was named the first Children’s Poet Laureate in 2006. Check out their websites at http://www.maryannhoberman.com/ and http://www.jackprelutsky.com/.
